Designing during COVID-19

59 Days and Counting

Looking at the effect COVID-19 has had on communities across the world, one common theme we experience is how the days seem to blend together as time passes without the usual amount of structure in our lives. Hello from ATI, we’re here to give you a few updates on how our business operations have changed due to the current circumstances like many other small businesses, and if needed, to remind you what day it is. Here in San Francisco, the stay-at-home order was placed on March 16th to slow the spread of the virus, and our office was promptly closed on March 17th. To flatten the curve, our city’s mayor London Breed acted very quickly, declaring a state of emergency in the city in late February. Fun fact: San Francisco was the first U.S. city to put in place stay-at-home regulations. Since March 17th we’ve been social distancing, that is 52 days, and the entire month of April.

Stay safe out there and prevent the spread of COVID-19 with hand sanitizer!

While our physical office location is currently closed, we are still open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm and can be reached by phone or through our Contact Us page where our email is listed as well. We want to support the community that supports us during this time, so please feel free to reach out to us with any inquiries.

Working from Home

If you follow our Instagram page, you’ve probably seen what we’ve been up to during the quarantine. Keeping busy, our team has taken this extra time to spend cooking, painting, and being with our families.

Working from home, we’ve developing concepts for our clients with open projects in Monte Serrano, Boston, Tiburon, and Albion. Since we’re not able to meet with our clients and suppliers in person, we’ve had to get creative. For our project in Boston, we were planning to have our installation early last week, so we thought of the next best thing- using design tools to hold a virtual installation to see how our concepts will look in the apartment. In the picture below we can see the dimensions and color of the furniture. Looking at the aesthetics of the room as well as space planning to ensure the pieces will fit the room accordingly.

In other news, we have a new hire! We are very pleased to welcome Brad Marsh to the team as our new Office Manager. You can read about Brad and his background in a quick bio on our Meet the Team page. We’re very glad to have him come aboard and join the team!

2020 Showcase

As mentioned in a previous blog post, we were chosen to design the living room in the 2020 San Francisco Decorator Showcase. As all industries have had to adjust their operations to keep the health and safety of everyone top of mind, this year’s Showcase has unfortunately been postponed for later in the year. However it’s not been canceled, so we still hope to see you there when we can all gather together safely.

Stay healthy, San Francisco!
